When I have a new patient, I will initially speak to them a little bit about their situation in life and what some of the problems are that they feel they faced. We’ll do an initial audiogram, which is a hearing test and evaluation which can show the thresholds that people can hear given their current situation. We also try to, to determine if there are any medical issues, anything that could be medically treated or addressed by a physician. In which case, that person I would refer to an MD. Many times since rineural hearing loss is the most common thing found, many times since rineural hearing loss is the thing that we do address with auditory assists such as hearing instruments, amplified telephones, things of that kind. So after an initial audiogram, we would get together and go over that, let me explain the individual’s particular hearing situation and why. Why this may have occurred, an ideology if we can deduce that from the test, and as well what the outcome may be for maybe improving and remedying some of the problems that are being faced.
